This Camino to Santiago de Compostela is one of the lesser known and thus less traveled pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, the famous cathedral city found in the north west of Spain.
On the southeastern coast of Spain where the Turia River tips into the Mediterranean Sea lies the delightful ‘city of joy’ better known as Valencia. With a population of over eight hundred thousand inhabitants this is Spains third largest city and it is packed with modern and historic wonders which includes The Basílica of Our Lady of the Assumption, the starting point of our long trail westward. it’s here that I light the first of hopefully many candles and with one I say a prayer for all those very special people in my life who have gone before me and a second candle for my dear friend Tony Taylor who passed away while I was over in Europe on my journey.
The trail heads ever westwards and passes through the beautiful cities of Toledo and Avila before joining the Via de la Plata at Zamora
